The traditional, honest kitchen of Alentejo is more than worth discovering. Aside from pork and lam dishes, game meat dishes are also served, such as wild boar, hare and partridge. Stews, migas, açordas (the regional soup) must certainly be tried. Also, one should not forget the excellent choice in patisserie.
Wine has been cultivated in the Alentejo region for centuries, but wine production has grown exponentially in recent decades. Because of this, a visit to one of the wineries in the region of Reguengos de Monsaraz is highly recommended. Several 'wine routes' are possible.
